Cultural Competency Resource Center
The creators of the Quality Interactions® cultural competency training approach, Drs. Joseph Betancourt, Alex Green and J. Emilio Carrillo, have launched a new Cultural Competency Resource Center Website to help physicians, nurses and healthcare professionals have access to vitally important information that will help them better communicate and care for patients of diverse cultural backgrounds.
This website contains important content as it pertains to the patient-based approach to cross cultural care and skill sets to manage cross-cultural challenges by clinical discipline. In addition, within the website there is a section on difficult patient scenarios, as well as important information on language and interpretation, cross-cultural communication skills, and health beliefs of different cultures and religions.
Below is an illustration of the home page and we can also track for your organization how users are accessing the site and what topics they are visiting most frequently. This is great information for you to identify potential challenges or concerns your clinicians and staff face while interacting and caring for diverse patient populations.
Purpose:
- To allow organizations who subscribe to Quality Interactions to have access to helpful information on cross-cultural healthcare.
- To allow clinicians the opportunity to easily reference tools which allow them to better navigate difficult cross-cultural interactions.
- To ensure that leading healthcare organizations are accessing credible information that will not lead to adverse effects such as stereotyping.
